3. Arnica:

Arnica is widely used for healing and strengthening muscles and joints. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent that helps reduce pain, swelling and inflammation. As an added benefit, arnica increases circulation and helps prevent bruising in the injured area.

  • Apply arnica essential oil in diluted form over the affected area and gently massage it. Wrap a bandage over the area and leave it on for at least five hours. Remove the bandage and repeat the process again after a few hours. Do this for a few days until your ankle is completely healed.
  • Apply arnica balm or ointment as cream or a compress two or three times a day.

Epsom salt is one of the most common home remedies for sprained ankle that you will ever find in the world. The crystals of magnesium sulfate contained in this salt are very efficient for relieving the muscle soreness and soothing nearby nerves. People can buy Epsom salt at most discount stores or drugstores.

  • Pour into warm bath water a cup of Epsom salt. Use your hand to stir it well to dissolve the salt in the water quicker.
  • Soak your sprained ankle into this water for at least half an hour
  • Apply this method 2 times every day for 3 – 4 days.

5. Turmeric Powder:

Turmeric not only helps to fight the inflammation, but also reduce swelling and pain, and rest the muscle so it can treat sprained ankle effectively.

  • Mix turmeric powder with warm water to form paste, the better is add some lime juice and make it warm. Then apply it over the ankle and wrap it with a bandage, let it there for at least 10 hours or overnight then remove.
  • In the other hand, add 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk and drink it daily until noticed any changes.
